    Deputy Director of The Heart Research Institute in Sydney, and a Conjoint Professor of the University of Sydney.

    •    ARC QE2 fellowship (1995) and Group Leader position at The Heart Research Institute.
    •    University of York Chemistry Department staff member.
    •    Postdoctoral studies (1984–1987) Brunel University London with Professors Trevor Slater and Robin Willson.
    •    PhD (1984) University of York, UK working with Professors Richard Norman and Bruce Gilbert.
    •    Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.

    Expertise
    •    Free radical chemistry and biology, ranging from molecular modeling, through mechanistic and kinetic studies, to studies on intact biological samples.

    •    Protein hydroperoxides and radical chain reactions in protein damage.
    •    Role of myeloperoxidase-derived oxidants in biological damage.
    •    Iron and copper as catalysts of radical damage in the artery wall.
    •    Nitric oxide and nitroxides as potential inhibitors of protein damage.
    •    Role of photo-oxidation in cellular damage and human disease.
    •    Determining kinetic and mechanistic data for oxidation reactions on proteins.
    •    Peroxynitrite and reactive nitrogen species in atherosclerosis.
    •    Role of radical reactions in protein modification.
    •    Development of novel markers for radical damage in biological systems.
