Climate Change & Energy

Overview

Water, soil and air quality, and climate change are of concern to humanity. Many diseases and species conservation issues are associated with changes and pollution to the environment.

With its expertise in free radicals, the Centre creating:
  • new methodologies to study environmental free radicals and their impact on biology, and
  • new solutions and technologies to produce more environmentally-friendly industrial products.

Research Projects

Research under this initiative aims to understand the environmental impact of free radicals, and to develop improved technology for fertiliser and fuel generation.

Centre researchers are working on a number of projects within this initiative including:
  • New methods to generate and study environmentally-relevant free radicals under controlled laboratory conditions;
  • New research to study the impact of environmentally-relevant free radicals on biological molecules;
  • New computational methods and technologies for modelling radical reactions involving biologically-relevant molecules; and
  • New radical enzyme technology for improved fertiliser and fuel generation techniques with reduced environmental impact.
